Pregnant women with syphilis can transfer the infection to their unborn baby. It is possible you get infected, if you inject yourself with drugs and share needles with someone who is infected or through blood transfusions . It can be spread through shared contact with surfaces like doorknobs or tables.
After it enters the body through mucous membranes or skin, it reaches the regional lymph nodes within hours and quickly spread through the body.
